Akram Hakiri

Akram Hakiri is an Associate Professor of Computer Sciences and Engineering at the University of Carthage, Tunisia, a senior research scientist at LAAS-CNRS, Toulouse, France, and a visiting research scientist at the Institute for Software Integrated Systems (ISIS) at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, USA. He was also a visiting research scientist at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, and Santa Clara University, California. Dr. Hakiri is an IEEE Senior Member, ACM Professional Member, and the Vice-Chair of the IEEE COM NetSoft SDN MCM P1930.1 standardization project.

His research addresses Quality of Service in heterogeneous network environments and middleware technologies for distributed real-time systems. His current work focuses on developing novel solutions to emerging challenges in distributed systems: blockchain and distributed consensus, distributed ledgers, network virtualization, software-defined networking, edge–fog computing, the Internet of Things, and 5G networks and beyond.
